Math-U-See is designed a sequential manner. Our elementary math uses a Greek letter naming system that corresponds to each level of mastery, rather than conventional “grade levels.”
You might want assistance determining the proper starting point for your student. This is what our Customer Service Specialists are trained to do — please contact us for advice, instructions, and interpretations as you are working through the placement process.
Please use our Placement Tests to help determine proper placement. Contact Customer Service if you have questions on how to give the tests or what the results mean. If at any point before, during, or after the placement process you have any questions or uncertainty, please contact us for help.
We’ve provided these Placement Tests to help determine the best level for your student to begin with in the Math-U-See curriculum.
The Placement Tests are made up of two parts. The first part tests computation skills, while the second part (word problems) focuses on thinking skills, and tests the student’s understanding of the concepts. Remember, we want to build understanding and not just memorization; knowing when to use math concepts is just as important as knowing how to do math. Click on a link below for the test you want. If you have a student who is new to math or you are unsure where to begin, you may choose to begin with the one-page PreTest.
